2017 Summer Musical Theatre Camp
This workshop focuses on the fundamental techniques of creating musical theatre: singing/voice/diction and movement, stage directions, creative collaboration and theatre etiquette. Actors are actively involved in the creation of the original musical piece. They stand beside an accompanist/composer and learn original and published music. Librettos and theatre games are all designed to cultivate important life skills such as confidence in oneself, speaking in front of others, working cooperatively with peers and enjoying the process of creating musical theatre.
This summer, In addition to mounting and performing an original production, campers will learn about life on the American frontier by creating a daily take home pioneer craft, eating a daily American frontier snack, and taking two field trips (including a research trip to the History Museum).
